The Vortex Model No. MSC18-E144527 Maintenance Gate Valve is designed for handling dry clay, meeting the specific demands of processing this material. Dry clay, a fine, powdery material formed from weathered rocks and minerals, is widely used in construction, ceramics, and pharmaceuticals due to its plastic properties and ability to harden when heated. This maintenance gate will be installed above a Titan Slide Gate to provide an emergency material shut off solution.

This 18-inch valve features a 6061-T6 aluminum body and a 304 stainless steel blade, materials chosen for their strength, durability, and corrosion resistance. These components are engineered to handle the abrasive nature of dry clay while maintaining reliability. Critical contact areas are built with 304 stainless steel and polymers to withstand wear and enhance durability and efficiency.

The valve includes a manual hand crank actuator with left-hand ACME threads, allowing for precise control of material flow. It is designed to manage temperatures up to 250°F (122°C), making it suitable for demanding applications. Nylon blade support guides ensure smooth operation, while Teflon gland packing prevents leaks and improves sealing. A UHMW-PE blade guide system reduces friction and wear, maintaining performance under challenging conditions.

To integrate the customers planned setup, the valve includes an ASR-CS-18-E149011 square-to-round transition designed to meet the customers specifications, simplifying installation and material conveyance.
