This case study highlights a custom maintenance gate solution developed for a client managing mixed batch materials, approximately 300 mesh in size and 83 PCF in density. The client required a customized approach, including specific actuation features and a distinct paint color. Vortex designed and manufactured maintenance gates meticulously tailored to meet these unique requirements.

The gates were constructed from durable carbon steel with 304 stainless steel blades, ensuring long-lasting performance. To enhance material compatibility and minimize wear, stainless steel and polymer contact points were incorporated into the design. While the original design featured a non-rising manual hand crank for actuation, the client requested a hex drive, which was seamlessly integrated for improved operational convenience.

Aesthetic considerations were also a priority. Both gate models were finished in Traffic Blue to match the client’s specifications. Additionally, standard features such as UHMW-PE guides and nylon seals were included to provide a secure seal and simplify maintenance.
