Vortex has been working with power and energy companies since the early 1990s. We started our company in 1977 by manufacturing slide gates and diverter valves for lighter duty applications like flour and plastic pellets. We specialize in modifying standard products to fit specific application parameters. Engineering firms and OEMs noticed the success we were having with powders, pellets, and granules, and began bringing us projects that involved handling coal, aggregates and minerals.
We quickly expanded our engineering department and created a division devoted to heavy-duty, abrasive materials. Eventually, this turned into a new product line for our company that is known today as the Titan Series.
Titan valves are designed to last longer in abrasive applications. Key wear points are identified and reinforced to withstand abuse for a longer period of time. Equipment wear is a part of life in the energy and power industry, so we made sure our products were designed with maintenance friendly features. Slide gates and diverters can be maintained while in place. This feature extends the valve’s overall service life and greatly improves life-cycle costs.
Why the power & energy companies choose Vortex:
1. Durability – Our Titan Series valves utilize liners made of hard metals or metal alloys in key areas to extend the valve’s service life. Replacing the liners is much easier than replacing the entire valve.
2. Ease of Maintenance – Power and energy plant supervisors and maintenance personnel appreciate Vortex gates, diverter valves and loading spouts for their easy in-line maintenance features. These features reduce costs associated with downtime and lost production.
3. Sealing Technology™ – Vortex gates and diverters are engineered to contain fugitive dust that can create unproductive working conditions and create safety hazards from airborne contamination. They also reduce “house cleaning” costs that can be very expensive over the course of a year.
