In the client's previous process, a direct line transferred thin paper strips toward a bailer. The book spine pieces were heavier and were removed from the trimmer by hand, so not to plug the direct transfer line. The time spent hand-picking spine pieces added considerable downtime and lagged the entire trimming process. A Vortex Flex Tube Diverter allowed both the thin paper strips and the book spine pieces to be pneumatically conveyed to separate collection areas, therefore eliminating the need for hand-picking.
