Material: Powdered drink mix.

Challenge: Avoid food contamination.

Solution: A Teflon-coated iris valve.

Results:

The company ordering two 10″ – (255 mm) Vortex Iris Valves (pictured right) had a unique application which required a Teflon-coated valve body. They specified this coating because Teflon does not chemically interact or corrode from material contact, which would otherwise compromise taste and create contamination. Teflon also does not absorb chemicals used as food preservatives, making it an excellent material contact option for assuring food purity. Teflon holds the additional benefit of being a non-stick material, providing ease in valve maintenance.

Vortex Iris Valves can be constructed from a number of material contact options, including aluminum, anodized aluminum, stainless steel, Teflon, and more.
