Quantum Gravity Vee Diverter Handles White Malt Barley

Published
Client:
Simpsons Malt – Northumberland, United Kingdom
Quantity:
Size:
8” (200mm) – 240lbs. (110kgs.)
Application:
Provide a proportional control solution for the transfer of white malt barley from a common location into two sieve units at a rate of 20-40 tonnes per hour (22-44 US tons per hour), for installation in a pre-existing malt operation.

FEATURES:

Two infinitely variable position assemblies with 4–20 mAmp electrical position control and position feedback, controlled by a programmable logic controller (PLC) interface. Two linear output transducers to feedback blade position along the valve’s entire stroke with an accuracy of +/- 3% stroke length. The diverter is constructed from 304 stainless steel, and includes polyethylene terephthalate (PET) seals and cam adjustable blade guide rollers.

RESULTS:

The dual-actuating abilities of the Gravity Vee Diverter allow the white malt barley to either be diverted to a particular sieve or stream freely into both sieves, and can also be used to shut off flow in both directions. Traditional diverters require material flow to be shut off before redirecting the line, often requiring an additional gate be installed above the diverter. Through special PET seal design, areas where materials can lodge in production are eliminated with the Gravity Vee Diverter, minimizing material cross contamination or spoilage – a characteristic of utmost importance for those in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries. Further, while traditional diverters typically have issues with material sticking on their blades, the self-cleaning action of the Gravity Vee Diverter’s sliding blade removes these materials, reducing the risk for maintenance and mechanical repairs.
